Groups

Finding healing in shared experience. At Partners in Change, we believe growth often flourishes in connection with others. Our group therapy offerings create a supportive environment where individuals can explore their emotions, learn new coping skills, and feel less alone in their struggles—all within a guided, professional setting.

Just as nature thrives in ecosystems, we too find strength in community. Group therapy offers a reminder that you are not alone—and that meaningful change can happen when we heal together.

Mindfulness for Stress Management

April 7, 2026 - May 26, 2026

Tuesdays 5:30-7:30 p.m.

720 W. Wackerly St. Midland, MI

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is about being awake and alive in the present moment. With mindfulness, we learn to release troubling thoughts of the past and worry thoughts about the future. We recognize how thoughts and emotions affect the body. We recognize harmful recurring thoughts and gradually see them become less prevalent in our thinking. We gain tools to move toward difficulties rather than run away from them. This is not something we can learn from books and lectures, but rather from experience, using meditation and yoga practice to reduce stress and improve quality of life.

PRT for Healing Chronic Pain & Symptoms

April 13, 2026 - May 25, 2026

Meeting Virtually
Tuesdays 5:30-7:00 p.m.

Group Information:

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is an evidence-based treatment to eliminate pain & other symptoms. Recent neuroscience breakthroughs show that most chronic pain results from a heightened nervous system, misinterpreting safe messages from the body as if they were dangerous. Research has found that the brain has the power to generate pain even in the absence of physical damage. PRT is a system of psychological techniques that retrains the brain to accurately interpret and respond to signals from the body, breaking the cycle of chronic pain in the nervous system.

EAET for Healing Chronic Pain & Symptoms

Start date will be determined by client interest and availability
Meeting Virtually
Tuesdays 5:30-7:00 p.m.

Group Information:

Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) is a form of psychological therapy that targets the trauma, stress, and relationship problems that are common for people who experience chronic pain. Centralized pain conditions are strongly influenced by the functions of the central nervous system, especially one’s thoughts, feelings, and relationships.

Such pain conditions include most cases of fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, pelvic pain, temporomandibular pain, head pain, and many cases of back or other localized pain. Research shows that how an individual handles stress can trigger, worsen, or maintain their pain symptoms.

The experience of chronic pain is most often a result of learned neural pathways in the brain, and recovery is possible. This group will deconstruct the connection between stress, emotions, and chronic pain symptoms.
